Landscaping the central square

The construction of the meeting room and the paving and landscaping of the central square of the office of the Community Council was completed at the end of 2013

The lighting system of the square will be completed soon which will change the whole appearance of the village center. These landscaping projects of the village center are integrated within the implementation of the provisions of the Master Plan for the village

The cost for this project was from state funds secured through the budgets of 2011, 2012 and 2013 . The project cost in excess of € 100.000.

HERITAGE OF VAVLA PROJECT
Redevelopment of old well and HAVOUZA

In1917 a well was built for the purpose of providing water in the lower neighbourhood of the village. For water storage a cistern was built which was filled via a stone groove linked to the well.

The system well – water basin, operated until 1925 , after which water was supplied from a source located at the location “Lazaros”. A concrete tank was constructed and a number of taps were built (FOUNTANA-fountains) in the village.

After 1925 the well was used primarily for watering animals. After 1980 the well was abandoned and the area was deserted.

Reconstruction / renovation of the structure and old buildings took place in 2012 and it was financed by the European Union and the Cyprus State, under the Rural Development Programme 2007-2013 for the Enhancement of Forest Heritage. The expenditure amounted to € 23.000.

Visitors can tour the site and enjoy a rare creation of our ancestors in a quiet and enchanting environment.
